(Non-I ED) Student Visa, (Non-I O) Retirement Visa, DTV Visa
(Non-I ED) Student Visa in Thailand
An ED (Education) visa lets you study Thai in Thailand legally for up to 1 year. Per Thailand’s Ministry of Education, only MOE-recognized schools can sponsor ED visas.
How it works
Initial permission: 90 days.
Extensions: every 60–90 days at Krabi Immigration.
We prepare all the required paperwork for you. You will need to visit the immigration office in person, and we can arrange taxi service if needed.
Who the ED visa is for
• Gap-year students: live in Thailand legally while studying Thai seriously.
• Long-term travelers: stay up to 1 year without visa runs.
• Future expats: test life in Thailand before switching to a work visa or relocating long-term.
• Career changers: build Thai skills for jobs in Thailand or Thai-related roles internationally.
• Serious learners: commit to structured classes (about 4–6 hours per week) with native teachers.
Important notes
An ED visa does not allow you to work in Thailand.
You must attend classes regularly to keep your visa status in good standing.
4 simple steps to apply
We handle the process. You focus on classes. Here is the flow:
Step 1 — Enroll
Fill out the enrollment form and pay the deposit. You can enroll in person at Thai Voice Language School in Krabi or online.
Step 2 — Prepare your documents
• Passport (valid at least 6 months)
• 12 photos on a white background: 6 pcs (3×4 cm) and 6 pcs (4×6 cm)
• TM30 form (from your landlord)
• Current Thai address
• Home country address
• Full names of both parents
Some nationalities also need a criminal record check (we will confirm based on your passport).
Step 3 — Ministry of Education approval
We submit your application to the Ministry of Education. Typical processing time is 1–2 weeks. You do not need to do anything during this stage; we keep you updated.
Step 4 — Immigration appointment in Krabi
After MOE approval, we can take your passport to Krabi Immigration to get the stamp, or you can go there yourself.
After approval
Visit our school for a short placement test. We will check your level and confirm your class schedule. We offer both onsite and online classes. Classes are held a minimum of 2 days per week and a maximum of 4 days per week, and each class lasts 2 hours.
Extensions during your course
We support all visa extensions (commonly 7 renewals over about 14 months, depending on your program and immigration scheduling). We remind you before each deadline, prepare documents, and accompany you to immigration.
Certificate of completion
Finish your course and receive a Certificate of Completion. This can support job applications, further study, or future visa applications.
90-day reporting support
All long-term visa holders must report their address every 90 days. We provide guidance and support for this process.
Before you arrive
• Answer questions via LINE, email, or WhatsApp.
• Step-by-step help with document preparation.
• Housing recommendations if needed.
Your first week
• Immigration support (submission + 90-day reporting guidance).
• Practical orientation (transport, essentials, daily life).
Throughout your course
• Free workshops, cultural events, and group activities.
• Progress check-ins with your teacher.
• Help with day-to-day life in Krabi.
Important update: Digital Arrival Card (May 2025)
Thailand introduced a new digital arrival system. This does not change the ED visa application itself, but it does change your arrival process when you enter Thailand. We can share guidance on what to do when you travel.
